The Company was established and started its business activity in 1945. Our headquarters were then located at 13 Dworcowa Street in the building of the pre-war German Dittman’s printing house. We started our activity as a printing house for Trybuna Pomorska newspaper.

In 1974 started the building of new headquarters in Wojska Polskiego Street. They were made useful to public in 1988. The company existed then under the name of Prasowe Zak?ady Graficzne. New modern offset machines were bought that enabled printing onto broeadsheets together with three heatset Harris machines that are controlled by a computer and print onto a paper from a roll. In those days our main products were newspapers, magazines, periodi\cals, books and rference books in paperback and hardback.

An important stage in our history was the privatization of the company in 2000 and transformation into joint stock company owned by the Treasury.

Nowadays, the Company belongs to one of the most moderna and the biggest printing houses in Poland.

To meet market needs we invested in state-of-the-art printing machines, graphic studio equipment, infallible computer systems and ourselves. We also perfected the methods of company management, work organization and our own skills. At present our personnel includes poeple who are well-educated, highly skilled, open-minded and creative.

We have introduced the quality policy. In 2001 we had an audit and were certified as complying with standards ISO 9002:1996 and ISO 14001:1998. We are also ready to be re-audited for compliance with new standards: ISO 9001:2001 and ISO 14001:2004.

Due to changes outside the company but also out own transformations affecting our behaviour, our production profile underwent gradual modification. Quitting the print of the newspapers, we turned to magazines, periodicals, calendars, advertising leaflets, brochures, posters and books. 

The company name we had had so far turned out not to correspond to the profile of our activity. Therefore, in April 2003 we changed it to ORTIS S.A. The word is derived from Latin and comprises a set of positive meanings such as beginning, source, sunrise. All these notions are associated with that what is new, that arouses hope and inspires the development. Thus, they could  now correspond to our objectives, strategy and possibilities. 

Our new name has also proved to be more comprehensible to our foreign business partners. This allowed for continuing the development of our export activities. Currently, we are producing not only for Polish publishers but also foreign ones from: Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, Denmark, France and the Czech Republic. We have good reasons to think that our share of the markets of EU member countries will become increasingly bigger.
