Practice PDF Print E-mail

We invite you on a short but fascinating tour to the land of printing

Before a new product in a form of a magazine, a leaflet or a book comes into being, the author needs to change his ideas into an electronic form project. This, in turn, goes through many stages, the last of which is the delivery to the receipient. Everything begins at the publisher’s who creates a vision of a product and transforms it into an electronic form.

Our participation in the creation starts in the Sales Department in which we agree on the basic parameters of the print: run, size, paper type and gsm, colour and volume. We are open to suggestions and are also willing to offer advice. Our long experience, professionalism and passion with which we approach our work give our customers the sense of security and let them trust our advice.

Having calculated a position, it is time to order paper, inks, set the date of production and deliver the materials to the Customer Service Department. In that unit the process engineers make the production schedule, lay out the print and advise on the preparation of materials and colours selection. They monitor the fulfillment of an order until the dispatch which ends the whole production process.

The Publisher sends the materials for printing in an electronic form to the Graphic Studio where graphic specialists verify the delivered files and make proofs. The Studio functions in the same department as the Prepress in which we make an electronic assembly (so-called impositions) or, if necessary, manual assembly. After verifying that the prepared materials are correct, we make direct exposures onto the plate (computer to plate) or, upon Customer’s request, onto a film (computer to film) and then expose it onto the plate. The image preserved on the plate serves as the basis for the next technological process-the printing job.

Let us now move on to the Production Department. The printing job, depending on the type of production, is done on a Heildelberg Speedmaster sheet-fed machine or on one of our web-fed machines Harris M-600, M-300, M-850. Each of these machines is a standard one and their possibilities allow us to offer a great variety of production options. All of them can change blank paper into a coloured section. Despite the great mechanization of it, the print still has some kind of magic in it, and still relies on talent and consciousness of the person.

Fresh-ink smelling products now go to the Binding Department where individual sections rolling off the printing machine change into finished, bound copies. The individual stages of work in the department are: folding, trimming to format, gathering, bending, trimming, binding.

All copies are now delivered to the Dispatch Department where they are packed in wrapping as requested by the Customer, placed on pallets to finally leave the printing realm and be transported to the Publishers or any other destination specified by them.
